Freestyle Skate Battle

Competition Overview

Mane in the Middle is a high-energy freestyle skate competition featured during Memphis 10: Skate Olympics Weekend.

This is a true freestyle battle — all skate styles and combinations of skate styles are welcome. Competitors are encouraged to bring originality, confidence, and performance power to the floor.

Competition Structure

• Head-to-head elimination rounds until a champion is crowned

• ONE MALE champion shall receive $250 USD

• ONE FEMALE champion shall receive $250 USD

Registration Details

• $25 Entry Fee (Non-Refundable)

• Registration Deadline: Friday, May 1, 2026

• Registration will close early if maximum capacity (8 per gender) is reached before the deadline.

All competitors must complete registration and payment to secure their position.

Competition Format

There will be 2 Female Rounds
and 2 Male Rounds.

Order:

1. Ladies’ Round 1

2. Men’s Round 1

3. Ladies’ Round 2

4. Men’s Round 2

 

ROUND 1: “TRIPLE THREAT”

• DJ will play a mix with tracks between 92–102 BPM

• 5 minutes on the clock

• All 3 contestants will cypher freely within the time frame

 

This is your opportunity to:

• Be brave

• Be competitive

• Assert dominance

• Show your full arsenal

 

Do NOT let the 5 minutes pass without showing your best work.

After the round ends, judges will select the top 2 contestants advancing to Round 2.

⚠️ Scores will NOT be revealed after Round 1.

 

ROUND 2: “HEAD-TO-HEAD”

• A coin toss will determine who skates first

• Each finalist will have 40–70 seconds individually

• Contestants will skate to a song of their choice at the DJ’s discretion

 

After both finalists perform, judges’ scores for each category will be revealed. The contestant with the highest combined total score will be crowned the official MANE in the MIDDLE Champion.

 

 

Judging Categories (50 Points Total for Final Round)

Competitors will be scored across 5 categories:

1. Technicality & Precision (10 pts)

Clean execution • Difficulty of movement • Placement & control • Recovery quality

2. Style & Flow (10 pts)

Smooth transitions • Movement connection • Confidence in execution • Overall control

3. Showmanship & Poise (10 pts)

Presence & confidence • Crowd/opponent engagement • Expression & emotion • Overall aura

4. Musicality (10 pts)

Timing & rhythm • Musical interpretation • Body movement to sound • Ability to connect with multiple elements of the music

5. Creativity & Originality (10 pts)

Uniqueness • Creative combinations & transitions • Arsenal depth • Individuality

Judges’ decisions are final.

This is a FREESTYLE SKATE BATTLE.

All skate styles and creative combinations are permitted. Competitors are encouraged to showcase their individuality and bring their strongest performance strategy.
